ACCESS STATEMENT

Bryn Elltyd is the original 1883 mine manager’s house for the Wrysgan slate quarry. It has been sensitively and extensively modified. It has substantial grounds, some areas are wild mountainside other sections are pathed gardens.
We have a disabled daughter who is an occasional wheelchair user and many years experience of teaching disabled students and adults. We have a font of knowledge of the problems of disability, some solutions and local knowledge.

  • Transport can be provided from the main line railway station 1.5mile away in the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog
  • Transport can be provided from the narrow gauge steam railway station of Tanygrisiau (Ffestioniog Railway) 300m away
  • Regular local buses: Train and Snowdonia bus timetable available. Blaenau Ffestiniog 1.5miles,  Porthmadog 8 miles,  Harlech 9 miles, Caernarfon 31 miles,  Llandudno 33 miles
  • Car parking to within 2m of the Bryn Elltyd in a private drive
  • Assistance with luggage provided if requested
  • A selection of paths are firm and well lit
  • There is more than one entrance, one with a step and the other without a step
  • Two steps link a change of level on the ground floor, but all facilities are available on each floor
  • All seating is movable
  • Ground floor en-suite room is spacious with a large, walk-in shower room
  • All room have cordless kettles, well stocked hospitality trays (fair trade tea, coffee, sugar)and radio alarm clocks
  • Assistance dogs are welcome
  • Mobile phones work in the immediate area
  • Wi – fi is available in some rooms
  • Staff have received disability training and some are sign language qualified in maketon and BSL. 1 (if a little rusty )
